Memories of the Early 1990s

No, this is not about the DiC adaptation. While the first two seasons are good for nostalgia, they really messed the characters and the story line up pretty badly at times. If you want DiC, you can look to Moonlight Soldiers: A Sailor Moon Encyclopedia. They have an entire section dedicated to it.

What this page is for is the Internet of the 1990s. Once you learned about Sailor Moon from DiC, you likely watched every episode you could. At the same time, it was often hard to because it either didn't air in your city or the time slot it was given made it almost impossible to catch. By the time you finally got into the R season, however... They didn't finish dubbing the season!

Now, while some likely were completely confused by this and left it at that, others sought answers. In the end those people discovered these answers via the World Wide Web. By the mid-90s there were many Sailor Moon fan websites around. Some of these websites could be very useful. Others could just lead to more questions, such as, "Who are these other girls wearing Sailor Suits?" and "What is up with the names Usagi, Mamoru and Makoto? And why are Amy, Raye and Mina's names spelled wrong?" Many of those said websites were like previews that just sucked any DiC Sailor Moon fan in even more.

Here, you will find some reflections of that forgotten time.

American Anime in the Beginning : The "pioneer" days of anime.
Mid-90s Web Page Designs : They were impressive for the time period...
Sailor Moon Rumors of the 90s : There were plenty of them.
Inside Jokes : Veteran BSSM fans should know these.
Outer Scouts' American Names : The fan names were better.
Fan Fiction Faux Pas : Fan stereotypes of Haruka and Michiru.
