Sailor Soldiers of the Solar System (太陽系のセーラー戦士たち - Taiyōkei no Sērā Senshi-tachi)

Eight Sailor Soldiers existed to protect these kingdoms and their Solar System. Sailor Soldiers are protectors of love and justice. Each one represent a heavenly body of their Solar System. Gifted with magical powers bestowed upon them from their "planets", they are able to manipulate elements associated with said "planet". Using these powers two seperate groups were formed to protect The Silver Millenium (シルバーミレニアム - Shirubā Mireniamu.)

The first group was the Four Guardian Deities (四守護神 - Shi Shugoshin). They were the personal protectors and companions of The Moon Princess. They lived on the Moon to always be at her side. The second group was Three Outer Solar System Soldiers (外部太陽系三戦士 - Gaibu Taiyōkei San Senshi). They lived on the outskirts of the Solar System to ward of any invading enemies. For this task, they were bestowed even stronger powers than the Moon Princesses' guardians. Never to leave their stations, they were isolated from their people and from each other.

One Sailor Soldier existed and belonged to neither group. Known as "The Soldier of Ruin", she awakened during the most desperate of times of crisis and possesses the power to end worlds.

Two planets did not have Sailor Soldiers to represent them. These planets were the Moon and Earth. Instead, both kingdoms had their separate rulers, a Queen and Princess of the Moon and a Prince of Earth.

In the present there are now nine Sailor Soldiers, a Soldier of Earth and a Sailor Soldier from the future. Together they now protect present Earth and the future Earth as well as the entire Solar System.

Sailor Soldiers of modern day Earth were once members of the Moon Kingdom (月の王国 - Tsuki no Ōkoku) known as the Silver Millennium and the Earth's Golden Kingdom (王国ゴールデン - Ōkoku Gōruden) from the distant past.

♁ Mamoru is Prince Endymion (プリンス・エンディミオン - Purinsu Endimion) in the past and King Endymion (キング・エンディミオン - Kingu Endimion) in the future.

☾ Chibiusa is Princess Usagi "Small Lady" Serenity (プリンセス うさぎ スモールレディ セレニティ - Purinsesu Usagi Sumōru Redi Sereniti) in the future.


Four Guardian Deities (四守護神 - Shi Shugoshin)

Consisting of the four inner most planets of the Solar System, minus the Earth, the Four Guardian Deities are Princess Serenity's protectors and companions. They are princesses of their respective planets and were gifted powers that enable them to become Sailor Soldiers.

Members of the group are:

♂ Sailor Mars (セーラーマーズ - Sērā Māzu)
♃ Sailor Jupiter (セーラージュピター - Sērā Jupitā)

Three Outer Solar System Soldiers (外部太陽系三戦士 - Gaibu Taiyōkei San Senshi)

Consisting of the three outer most planets of the Solar System, the Three Outer Solar System Soldiers act as guards of not only the Moon Kingdom, but the entire Solar System. They prevent invaders from entering and thus were gifted with even stronger powers than the Four Guardian Deities. They, too, are princess of their respective planets and were gifted the powers that enable them to become Sailor Soldiers.

Note:

On occasions they are known as Four Outer Solar System Soldiers (外部太陽系四戦士 - Gaibu Taiyōkei Shi Senshi) and Sailor Saturn (セーラーサターン - Sērā Satān) is deemed an Outer Solar System Soldier. This is usually during the last season, Sailor Moon Sailor Stars.

In the past Sailor Saturn only awakened as a soldier to end worlds whether the crisis was caused by an enemy within the Solar System or outside of it.

Allies:

Companion Cats (お供の猫たち - Otomo no Neko-tachi )

Servants to the Royal Family of the Moon Kingdom, the companion cats were sent to modern day Earth to guard, guide, serve and act as companions to the Sailor Soldiers. Different from regular Earth cats, they bear gold-colored crescent-shaped patterns on their foreheads and have the ability to converse through human speech. They can also magically summon forth objects to aid the Sailor Soldiers.

Currently in service to the Sailor Soldiers are:

Sailor Starlights (セーラースターライツ - Sērā Sutāraitsu)

Sailor Soldiers from outside the Solar System, the Sailor Starlights protect the planet Kinmoku (キンモク星). They also act as protectors and companions of Princess Kakyuu (プリンセス火球 - Purinsesu Kakyū), the first princess of the Osmanthus Kingdom (丹桂王国 - Tankei Ōkoku).

In the fifth season, Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, they infiltrate Earth in search of their lost princess. Disguising themselves, they take the form of men and form a pop star group called the Three Lights (スリーライツ - Surī Raitsu) to send out hidden messages to Princess Kakyuu through their song lyrics. They eventually become allies to the Solar System Soldiers.
