98 "Save Friends! Moon and Uranus Join Forces"

In this episode Michiru offers to perform their mission alone when the likely target is a passionate motorcycle racer. I think Haruka admires him and Michiru understands that. It would be difficult for Haruka should he be a carrier of a talisman. When it is established that the racer, Yamada, is indeed the target, Neptune alerts her partner. Through that, Haruka never has to witness his heart being taken. Neptune then attacks the Daimon on her own and returns the heart crystal before Haruka ever has to witness what Yamada went through.

When Neptune is captured and Uranus is left fighting the Double Tiren Daimon, Kaolinite tells her to stop fighting or Neptune will be killed. That shocks Uranus and causes her to pause, which shows she cares for Neptune.

Later when Sailor Moon shows up, despite they are not allies, Uranus shields her and gets injured in the shoulder. She tells Moon to leave. Both get disabled when they wind up handcuffed together. Seeing this, Neptune tells Uranus to retreat so at least one of them survives to complete the mission.

With Neptune's words, she understands she must leave. Despite the shock she showed earlier about the thought of Neptune dying, she still remembers the priorities they both share. They have the burden of not only sacrificing strangers, acquaintances and friends... they have the burden of having to sacrifice each other.

When Uranus doesn't go back to save Neptune, Moon admonishes her for being heartless and cruel. Uranus loses her cold demeanor and yells that she and Neptune made a promise. They would not let their emotions cloud their judgment if something happened to the other. They would sacrifice each other even if it killed them inside in order to complete their mission of finding the talismans. The talismans are the only way they can save the world from the coming destruction.

Uranus tells Moon, "Nobody wants any victims. However, if that saves the rest of the world... What would you do?!"

Both Uranus and Neptune are desperate. Uranus's desperation shows clearly here.

When Neptune is saved from Kaolinite, she automatically thinks Uranus had done such. She admonishes her for risking her life. Uranus had kept her promise and tells her that it was Sailor Moon who saved her. They had already made their decisions on how they would handle their mission.
