Aquarius is the eleventh sign of the Western Zodiac, occurring from January 21 to February 19. Aquarius is an air sign with fixed as its quality. Its symbol is The Water Bearer and "symbolizes advanced thought, which takes us out of our physical state and allows us to view the infinite in all things." It also represents "acceptance of all points of view, and shows the universal wisdom inherent in thoughts and actions." The eleventh sign "teaches the values of science and extrasensory powers, and signifies the new millennium" while its symbol "brings clear truth and eternal wisdom."
Life is a three hundred and sixty degree circle and is divided into four quadrants that represent certain times during life and and the four cycles of the seasons. Aquarius falls under quadrant four, Thought. Its motto is "I Universalize." "Aquarius may be seen as an evolutionary stage between Capricorn and Pisces that transmutes aspiring, earthy, pragmatic energies into diffuse, watery and otherworldly ones."
Their personalities can be described as detached from earthly life with a childlike, yet also wise, attitude. They can often have quirky behaviors and should not be restricted by others. "Joy is essential to the Aquarius personality." Rather accepting and with an open attitude, they can be surprised by rejection. They like things to go smoothly . "A wish for happiness and understanding prevades everything they do, but if confronted with conflict or stressful demands they can fly off the handle, go on the attack with lightning speed or simply choose to disappear."
Aquarians support high ideals and value scientific and universal truths. They like to be objective and for this have been "accused of coolness or lack of emotion." Because they go through life with seeming ease, determine situations and react quickly, "some find Aquarians too superficial in their approach." Interestingly enough, they are often "attracted to those profound, darker aspects of others."
Those born between January 23 to January 30 fall under the Aquarius I period. This period takes "Genius" as its central image.
This likens it to "the the years of of a person's early seventies" in regards to the human life cycle and thus has it fall during the seasons winter. At this time of life, people tend to be elders of advanced age whose views are now somewhat set in stone. It is a time of mental surveillance of what one has become how they reached that point and of concepts of destiny. It is also a time people have developed greater "universal understanding of nature, time and humanity."
"Aquarius I people are often precocious." Often perceptive and quick at learning as children, they in turn can be bored easily and are not suited for repetition or the mundane. "Patience is not their strongest suit by any means."
Quite the free spirits, they often come into conflict with those who have "more controlling personalities who wish to 'teach' them to be more 'responsible' or force them to accept a life of unchallenging, unstimulating work." In turn they often rebel to such restrictions, which can often lead to punishment be it emotional or physical should they not encounter someone who is methodical and of good intentions. Sometimes the fault rests in the Aquarius I, who can at times reject "peers who cannot keep up with them mentally and the elders who are bent on helping them ground their flighty and often brilliant energies."
Another difficulty they can face is becoming "objects of jealousy or adulation" due to their "insistence of living their own life and being themselves." Gaining attention due to some of their eccentricities can often occur, which they grow tired of. "Outside of those they care about deeply, most born in this period are not built to deal with complex emotional needs and demands of others."
