Some think if Midii Une when they looking for a possibly female counterpart for Trowa. Midii Une is not a greatly thought of character, but those who know of her have a few who think of them meeting again later in their lives. In the entire Gundam Wing series from manga, CDs, episodes to OVAs she only appeared in the Episode Zero manga. She was however the first possible crush he might have had. Their friendship was short lived, though, when it was found that she was the cause of the deaths of the Mercenary group he was a part of.
Midii appears during Trowa's segment which is Issue Four of the manga. They meet on page three where Trowa, known as No-name, points his gun in her direction as she comes out of hiding from the foliage. He brings her back with him to the Mercenary camp. On page six she talks to No-name and asks him why he saved her. No-name responds what she can do while there and then tells his reason. He says they are the same. He sees himself reflected in her.
Midii eventually hands him a cross on page nine. She tells No-name it is to thank him for his help and that God will now watch over him. After that, however, she notes to him she doesn't like him.
They pass by a circus as they travel and Midii notices No-name looks nostalgic despite his expression doesn't change. Whether he was being nostalgic, it isn't clarified, but there is the possibility he was. If so, that means Midii is pretty perceptive compared to most when it comes to him.
Later after a battle between traitors, No-name and his Captain come back to camp. Midii notes his lack of sadness. He tells her he has used up all his tears as a baby and she questions if he intends to keep wearing a tearless mask. He responds "until the day [he] dies". She reacts to this by squeezing the small game she carries around on her neck. Some might see this as her showing him concern in her own way.
On page eighteen the Mercenary camp is attacked. No-name grabs a motorcycle and stops to retrieve Midii. As they ride off Midii notes she won't thank him and he isn't surprised. She says to him that she isn't worth anything alive. No-name says he's the same.
Later the camp is in ruins and No-name is the only survivor of his group. He knew for quite some time that Midii was a spy and asks her how much she was paid. In note of this, he knew what she was and yet did nothing to stop her. Perhaps it was because he felt she was similar to him. Maybe he even developed a fondness for her. Who knows?
Well, Midii answers him and No-name notes her handheld game was a transmitter. He then takes the cross off his neck and says it must be one as well. Midii made sure No-name would live in her giving it to him. Maybe it is because she really does like him?
Well, No-name pulls his gun on her and she notes even someone like him can become angry. Perhaps he was. Again, if he really is mad, it shows she is perceptive and somehow is able to read his emotions because he was still emotionless as ever.
She then tells him how they are not alike and that No-name is fortunate because while he has nothing to lose; she has everything to lose. Midii begins to silently cry as she tells him such while in her mind she tells him she actually does like him, loves him even. She wished to be like him and always be with him. While she thinks this, though, she decides to show anger instead. She tells him she hates No-name for his emptiness while at the same time thinking how she loves him.
Once she's stopped yelling, he asks her if that is all. No-name tells Middi that she is the one better off and then tells her goodbye. His gun still points at her, so she closes her eyes so he can kill her. Instead he shoots the transmitter she holds in her hand.
Midii is surprised and tells No-name to wait, but he tells her she is wrong to call him "No-name". He says he is "merely a traveler looking for a place to go home to".
Whether No-name might have liked or loved Midii in return is never established. Still, he had to have feelings for her in some respect. Perhaps he couldn't kill her because of her tears. Perhaps he understood her true feelings despite what her words were. Maybe he still thought of her as a friend or simply he understood her position.
In any case, it is known that Midii Une did in fact love him romantically, which is more that can be said for all the speculated couples people have come up with. Still, she never appears again. If they did meet again later in their lives, after the television series and Endless Waltz, who knows? Perhaps there is a chance they would get together. For now, though, Midii Une is just a possible first love.
