Parents and Siblings

Nyx has been known to have a parent. Nyx has been known to have a sibling. Some have said she has had neither. The following gives the known information.

Parents

Aristophanes's Birds:
None - She was a first principle.
Khaos (Possibly) - Gaping Void.

Hesiod's Theogony:
Khaos - Gaping Void.

Hyginus' Fabulae:
Khaos - Gaping Void.

Orphic myths:
None - She is the first principle.
Phanes - Procreation and generation of life.

Define:

☽¤☾ Khaos - The primeval goddess to emerge at the creation of the universe as according to Hesoid. She is also known as Chaos through Latin translation. Not known as what chaos means today, her name translates to Gaping Void. In Hesiod's Theogony, Gaia, Tartaros and Eros come after Khaos. In it, Nyx was the sixth to come into existence after her brother when one looks to the order they are announced. Hyginus' Fabulae says Khaos came from Caligine (Mist) and from her came Nyx, Hemera, Erebos and Aither.

☽¤☾ None - This usually abides to Orphic theogony. From Aristophanes's view, Nyx was one of the first to exist with Khaos, Tartaros and Erebos. Some keep the belief that Nyx still had emerged from Khaos in this, but there is not given proof, thus others have belief that Nyx was merely always there or in a sense came to be around or at the same time Khaos did. Some even say that according to it Nyx was the first deity.

☽¤☾ Phanes - The primeval god of procreation and generation of life in was considered the first ruler of the universe in accordance to Orphic myths. Phanes is also known Eros, Erikepaios, Metis, and Protogonos. An example of his parentage of her has shown in Rhapsodic poetry. In Hesiod's Theogony Phanes is considered the equivalent of Eros, who emerged after Tataros from creation, thus making him something more similar to an uncle to Nyx.

Siblings

Hesiod's Theogony:
Erebos - Nether Darkness.

Eros, Gaia and Tartaros - There are a few people out there who treat Erebos and Nyx as they do Gaia, Tartaros and Eros, however. In other words, there is some who think Nyx and Erebos entered existence independently like the ones before them. There are also those who turn it around and say that Gaia, Tartaros and Eros were offspring of Khaos like Erebos and Nyx. This, I believe is all due to different interpretations and the inability to translate a language accurately to the original.

Define:

☽¤☾ Erebos - The primeval god of darkness, the consort of Nyx. He is also known as Erebus in Latin and as the Nether Darkness. He has been considered an equivalent to Tartaros in terms of a place. He is most known as Nyx's consort.

☽¤☾ Eros - A primeval deity of sexual desire. His Roman name is Amour and his Latin translation is Love.

☽¤☾ Gaia - The primeval goddess of the earth. The Romans know her as Terra or Tellus. The Latin spelling of her name is Gaea or Ge.

☽¤☾ Tartaros - The primeval god of the great pit that lay beneath the earth. His Latin spelling is Tartarus.
