Ground Zero

Another manga placed between the television series and Endless Waltz is Gundam Wing: Ground Zero. It, however, is considered more like a doujinshi compared to other released side manga because of its inconsistency. Thus, it is pretty much the most unofficial manga listed here.

Issue 3:

Quatre doesn't appear until page twenty-two in the Third Issue. He is a mastermind behind a plan to get Heero into space onto a small deserted Colony to get Wing Zero back. He encounters Duo and then Trowa. Upon meeting Trowa, Heero asks if Trowa was the one who sent the email that lured him there. Trowa responds no. Heero then tells him in the form of a question that he is the master mind's lackey in it. Trowa doesn't respond and thus Heero knows he is.

Later on when everyone believes Heero is going to kill Quatre, Duo steps in telling Heero he was the one who decided they should trick him and thus should kill him instead. Trowa intervenes and tells Heero that he shouldn't kill Quatre because he was assigned to stop Heero and thus was his responsibility. Poor Wu Fei has no idea what is going on.

From such a scenario, one can note that Trowa is protective of Quatre just as Duo is. This turns to the idea that Trowa and Quatre are merely very good friends.

Well, Heero has the tip of the gun under Quatre's chin and wishes for an explanation. Duo speaks up and tells him that they are there to make the decision of whether to destroy their Gundams or not.

Well, while Quatre was looking into contacting Heero and Wu Fei he found Heero had done a custom refit to Wing Zero. Duo, Quatre and Trowa wondered why since Heero supported Relena's call for total pacifism.

So, as far as the other Gundam Pilots know and believe, Heero is a firm supporter of Relena. His for keeping his Gundam was because he wanted to make sure he could protect Relena's ideas should they become a reality. As for the refit, he had not reason whatsoever, which ultimately sends Trowa laughing.

Also, Heero admits he had them figured out from the start but Trowa did make him second guess his assumptions. Go Trowa!

From seeing this, all that is indicated is that Trowa will die for Quatre, but that was established before in the anime. Over all, he'll die for any of his fellow Gundam Pilots it seems and they would do the same for him. So, as far as this goes, Trowa and Quatre are likely just very close friends.

Issue 4:

Quatre, Trowa and Duo run into Relena at a shuttle port on page three. Quatre tells her that he was there for the peace treaty signing and Trowa's circus troupe was performing there. Duo adds in that he decided to take his vacation there and claims that the other two came to surprise him there. Quatre is annoyed at that and retorts that Duo changed his plans to meet them there. Trowa notes that Duo is always ready to team up with him and Quatre.

Fans of the Trowa and Quatre coupling might interpret this as Trowa and Quatre wishing to meet each other so they could be alone at some point and Duo somehow wrecked their plans, but they let him anyway.

Particularly later in the Issue, Duo shows them the item Heero entrusted to Duo to give to Relena. He pulls out a hand-stitched teddy bear. Quatre thinks it is a bad joke by Heero. Trowa bursts out laughing. Quatre lectures Duo for showing such a thing to Trowa.

Admittedly, that last scene gives no indication anywhere in regards to their relationship... except maybe that Quatre wants to help Trowa keep his image. Other than that, it is noted due to the fact Trowa laughs in it.
