Endless Waltz OVA and Movie

Endless Waltz was first a three-episode OVA that came after the television series and the Gundam Wing Operation Meteor I & II: Odds & Evens OVA. While with a different director than from New Mobile Report Gundam Wing, the OVA was scripted by Katsuyuki Sumisawa who did script the television series.

Trowa and Catherine's first appearance is at the circus, looking into the tent. Catherine notes how small the crowd is. Trowa sees some suspicious, suited men at the entrance and replies the colony seems to have other forms of entertainment. While Catherine wonders about this, Trowa tells her he's going to check it out. He leaves his clown mask behind on the floor. Catherine is surprised by his sudden disappearance and soon sees the mask.

Outside, Trowa takes on the men and looks for information when they are all out. He finds they are from the Barton Foundation. He seems to know enough about it and has a memory. The scene cuts off then. Whether he said goodbye to Catherine or not is unknown. Nothing can really be determined about their relationship here other than being co-workers and close enough not to use honorifics.

The next scene that has any relation to Trowa and Catherine is when Trowa, Heero and Duo are in the control room of L3's X-18999 Colony. The colony is going to be used to complete the original plan of Operation Meteor of dropping an entire colony on Earth and take over the planet during the chaos. The three of them do their best to stabilize the colony. As they work, Trowa says,

"I've got important friends on this colony."

Though vague, he is obviously talking about the circus . It is simple and to the point, but Catherine is obviously one of those people. Again, nothing is determined in this other than that she is at least one of his important friends.

At the end of the OVA are scenes of what lives the former Gundam Pilots are doing. It shows Trowa returning to the circus and Catherine waiting. She smiles and when he arrives at the entrance she turns and they both head in together.

To the casual viewer there is nothing really there. To a fan of the pairing, it could be seen as a the girlfriend or wife waiting until her lover returns home from a war. At the same time, it works for the brother and sister theory as well though, since there is nothing romantic about it.

In the movie the footage for the ending is different. Trowa is back at the circus and is performing with Catherine. She swings off a trapeze bar and he does his trademark triple axel aerial flip. Landing on a high wire, he soon catches Catherine to the awe of the crowd.

Nothing romantic is seen there other than that he is holding her bridal style, but they don't even look at each other. At most, all that seems to show in that scene is definite trust in each others abilities.

Overall, nothing romantic is suggested at all in Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz in regards to the two. Basically all that is shown is good teamwork while performing and friendship.
