Later an OVA series is released called Gundam Wing Operation Meteor I & II: Odds & Evens. The OVA is actually more of a memorial video, but it does pick up after the Gundam Pilots have finished their battle and Libra is destroyed.
"Operation Meteor II: Odd Numbers" adds in new scenes that show what the Gundam Pilots are doing now that the war has just ended. They fly off to rest at MO-II, natural resource satellite, where what other survivors out there have gone to.
Trowa's segment "Cool Machine" starts off with a scene of him at a communicator screen located in MO-II. It shows Catherine on the screen. Therefore, he contacted her once his mission was over.
The scene goes like this:
Trowa is bent over a communication system with a video screen on. He smiles slightly. The view moves over to Trowa's behind showing Catherine waving on the screen. Trowa? smile widens and he then turns off the screen. He turns around and crosses his arms. Trowa bows his head and closes his eyes as he thinks,
"Even in the war, I still survived. Right now, I feel very happy. When I was on Earth, I never imagined I would survive. Right now, I have someone to protect and a place to return to. I keep controlling my Gundam in the war. Maybe... I can get back myself."
The scene then ends with him walking forward and it cuts off to the memorials involving Trowa. There are no translations for those.
A different site in a different language, I believe Spanish, also had a translation by Sanada Saori:
"Even in war, I still survived. Right now, I am very happy. When I was on Earth, I never imagined that I could survive. Right now, I have someone to protect. Also, a place to return. I keep checking my Gundam in the war. Maybe... I can be myself again."
Overall, the two are very similar. To be noted, there is also a different translation for his introduction, provided by a site that supports the romantic pairing of Trowa and Catherine.
"Yesterday, I was in the war. But now these are those gentle, happy feelings I've longed for. On Earth I can almost believe the enemy is gone. But now I must protect her. When all of this is over I can return to her. Debates over the Gundams are being discussed now. I am called a human... but I don't know if I can go back to being one.
The two first translations and the last one have quite a difference. Some will feel more inclined to trust the first ones over the third. Such is due to favor. Due to different views a person can see what they want to see. The first translation was looking for nothing other than a translation. The second one has the possibility of searching for specific words.
Still, because the third translation was looking for clues about their relationship, there is a likelihood of picking up things some translators don't. The word love in Japan and how to say affection varies. They use different words to get across the different meanings of love that range from love of friends, family, couples and even inanimate objects. There is also a difference in the use of "ai" and "koi" both meaning love but at different degrees. Thus, in this there is a stand still unless a third party should translate this and translates it fluently and without favor.
Well, in the progression of the animated series the bond between Catherine and Trowa seems to grow stronger. When Trowa thinks of the home he has, the image is clearly Catherine and not simply just the circus. When he leaves to fight, Catherine is adamant about him returning to her.
Still, what category this love falls under is uncertain. Both have longed for family, so this could be merely want for the adopted sibling to return. It could be a strange genetic tug as well. Then there is always the lingering wonder of it possibly being the desperation to be reunited with a lover.
