The Dresser

Welcome to The Dresser. Here you can learn more about Nyx's fashion sense.

Season One

His Trademark Attire

Nyx's attire looks to be a combination of court gentleman and a tad of formal military. He ties his hair back with a sky blue ribbon tied in typical bow tie fashion with long trailing tails. It looks to be made of satin or silk.

His coat resembles a morning coat with its knee length skirt and single-breasted style. It possesses a peaked lapel that is usually found on double-breasted coats. The collar part of the lapel is black. It has a double yoke front with the top yoke as a simple horizontal line and the one below peaked. The hip pockets have simple, straight-cut flaps. Its color scheme consists of dark blue, sky blue, a light blue that borders on white and wisteria.

The back of the coat starts off with a three split backing for the upper back. It ends lower mid-back and is enters a horizontal three seamed upside-down V design. Below that the tail begins topped with a half-belted style, but instead uses a gold ball chain that connects two cabochon buttons framed in gold. From there it looks like the tail leads down creating a double-vented skirt.

There are additional embellishments making it look a bit more military and yet formal at the same time. Wisteria-colored pipelining accents the hemlines and gold-colored piping accents the cuffs and breast. Four onyx colored buttons run half way down the front of the jacket. The cuff buttons are blue jewels framed in gold.

In his left lapel's buttonhole is a jeweled boutonnière. It follows the traditional flower decoration with a gold stem and leaves and Marquise-cut gems ranging from three to four of a light, almost white color for the petals. There are two small circle-shaped blue gems for additional embellishment.

The boutonnière also acts as a detachable anchor to the gold chain that leads to his monocle. The monocle is half framed in gold and possesses a nose bridge to keep it in place. From the outer side of the frame trails four beads that lead to the chain. The topmost is oval and gold-colored. Beneath it is a small sphere-shaped bead, which is followed by a larger sphere-shaped bead of blue. Beneath that is another small, sphere-shaped bead of gold. The chain seems to border towards a rope design.

Beneath the topcoat he wears a beige waistcoat with four matching buttons trailing down the waist. The back is of brown colored fabric and possesses a half-belt. It covers a white dress shirt with a ruffled or pleated front, collar and cuffs. The collar is worn turned up and is encircled with a dark bluish-purple ribbon for the tie. The style is done like a formal bow tie but letting one end trail down like a typical knotted bow.

After that are his trousers. They are well fitted and of the color white. They probably end as knee length breeches that extend just below the knees. It is hard to tell since he wears knee-length boots. His boots look to be of brown leather of two shades and appear to be a combination of riding and military. The tops are rimmed with gold-colored piping and the front possesses a tab that over laps the front in a V-shape. At the point hangs a matching gold-colored tassel. The heels are a goldenrod color.

His Casual Clothes:

When gardening he wears the same ensemble but without the top coat. He opts for darker pants as well, usually an earthy color like brown.

His Winter Outerwear:

His winter coat is a maroon double breasted overcoat that ends mid-calf. The front edge of the jacket is a shawl lapel. It and the cuffs are of some sort of fur or wool. Down the front are gold buttons lined with three on each side. With it is a matching hat that looks to be a type of taqiyah.

His Past Appearance:

In his past, fifty years ago, Nyx's attire was more subdued and somber. He wore a maroon-colored cravat instead of a ribbon around his neck. He went without a topcoat and instead simply wore a dark gray-colored vest and a cummerbund. His shirt was simpler as well. It has a straight or point collar and cuffs that have a straight edging. He wore dark, possibly black, breeches and knee-length boots of a simpler design as well.

When out he'd wear an Inverness coat. It was of dark gray or black color. The front was held together with two buttons and a chain. The chain was possibly snake designed and was gold-colored with tassels hanging from each end. The buttons were circular, blue cabochons framed in gold.

The upper cuffs of the coat had gold-colored pipelining and a half belt was at the lower back, held with two gold buttons. A single seam ran down from the half-belt, possibly creating a single vent at the bottom. The end of the coat reached his knees. With this he wore black gloves as well.

Season Two

His Modified Attire:

In the second season, Nyx's clothing is relatively the same, just less. The finery he wore in the first season is gone. He still wears his ruffled dress shirt and his knee-high boots with tabs. His pants are the same style but they are a navy blue now. Everything else is gone. The topcoat, the waistcoat, the necktie, the monocle, the boutonnière-like pin and even his hair tie.

He also has a more disheveled appearance. His shirt is not tucked in and the top button is undone. His hair is also not neatly groomed as before. Despite this change of look, he still remains an refined gentleman.
