Meh, I’m so sensitive to stress. Well, this morning I woke to my dad yelling-groaning something. It might have been the word “noâ€. By now I cannot recall. I listened silently and gathered my sister did something financially stupid. Well, I got up once things quieted down a bit.
It turns out my sister missed her flight. You see, my sister was going to fly down here in order to bring the things she had to leave behind (furniture, clothes, etc.) back up to Virginia where she is located now. In this plan my dad and brother were going to meet her in Austin, get her things ready in a U-Haul and then my dad and sister would drive back up North in it.
So, since 5:55 this morning until around sometime a bit after 7 my parents have been talking to her over the phone. Dad and my sister argued and fretted, later Mom talked t my sister calmly over the phone, then Dad and my sister talked about what they’d do… In the end it was decided that the original plan would only be postponed for a day. The other plan was to postpone for a week.
All of this started because my sister never made it out when her taxi arrived. Foolishly my sister decided to rely on others to tell her when it came along. What happened, I do not know, but either she was called and had over slept or the person she was relying on forgot completely. Either way, she entrusted something important like that to a person she barely even knows.
I’m pretty sure she woke up late since somewhere in a phone conversation he asked her why she wasn’t there and then yelled something about why she didn’t set her alarm. There was also the fact that she hadn’t gone to bed until two this morning, so she is likely exhausted. Not that she wouldn’t already likely be exhausted without having that happen.
Her job isn’t turning out for the better as all of us had hoped it would. She has to work with people who don’t listen to hr or care about working. Basically her situation sounds like how things were for me when teachers stuck us into group projects. Basically I had to do the work of three other people. Well, the case is similar here; only it is in the real world, she likely is dealing with more than three people and money rides on it rather than a grade. I feel sorry for her. We all are.
There was also a mentioning of a problem that she’ll have to worry about after all this is over with. Apparently people she was trying to get away from in her previous work place are going up there to work in the same hotel as her. Sadly, we cannot do anything for her. Mom spoke about how so far ever since she left home and finished schooling she has been unhappy in every work environment she has been it. Whether it is her own doing or not, it is obvious the restaurant/hotel service is not her place. I think she would be better off looking elsewhere, but with this economy and the feeble stability she is holding onto right now… I understand the fear.
She has never been in any other work environment and thus hasn’t any other skills outside of it to put in resumes. Then there is the fact that she has no certainty of securing a job soon after leaving the job she is already in. Living, food, driving expenses would then have to be looked at as well. My sister is definitely in a tight spot. Sigh.
Well, when everything settled down again and plans were remade, my chest began to feel a bit tight and I felt a little less than great. I knew it was the stress in the air. Mom is fine, Dad is likely becoming fine… me… I decided to take one of my chill pills. I don’t have to take them often since I live a rather simple life now, but it is times like this… Yeah.
All I know is, I am extremely grateful I don’t have to live in the adult world. I get sick just by experiencing my sister’s problems third hand. Hearing the plans, the reevaluating and financials in clips and phrases was enough to boggle and subdue me. Scary stuff… To live out in the real world… I think that would be like throwing me to the wolves… on a very close to literal level.
Well, that is all I am going to write. There is likely a lot of less important stuff I could or should jot down, but I’ve only had two hours of sleep at most by now. I’m going to try resuming that sleep. It would definitely get my nerves back in order some.
Small Revelation…
I never quite understood the term Mary Sue… perhaps to some extent I still don’t. Still, after some research and clues… I think my most beloved character is a Mary Sue. Oh well. I love her to death and the story was mainly written to keep myself sane during my trying adolescence. Still, poor Fool… I am semi-crushed. And I am semi-joking in that statement.
Flight…
A conversation/debate I had during the weekend with a casual net friend:
~Nyxity
You must absolutely hate the wings I draw then. O.o…‘Think you’d critique my gallery?
—–
*Tawadi
I was hoping this would stand in for critiques…
Aside from duct-tape wings, your art is fine. Better than most of the people this is aimed at.
The dragon bit is mostly aimed at people who do stuff like this [link] I love this person to pieces, but some of the refs drive me mad.—–
~Nyxity
Heh, my case is similar to when people look for typing errors. Well, except that while I miss all of my mistakes, I usually miss the ones in other people’s works as well. 😛I wike my duct-tape wings. :{
😛
—–
*Tawadi
Well maybe now youll notice them, both in your own and in others art.Just dont try to tell me your people are flying away on those or Ill hit you with something. Probably a pillow.
—–
~Nyxity
If anything, the wings are usually just for the symbolism. That and sort of like navigators. For example: Cats’ tails. They can’t be used to hang upside down with like say certain monkeys. They can, however, be used as feelers, balance aids, emotional state indicators and such.
Besides, with angels and devils… they are supposed to be like spirits, ghosts and so forth. They have no corporeal form or at least not a heavy form like humans and most animals… they should fly just fine without wings… or float in any case. 😛
So yeah, if you see one of my ghosts, angels, devils or dragons flying… it isn’t because of the wings. They just use those to tell wind speed, direction and so forth. 😀—–
*Tawadi
I give up on angels. No one wants to put muscles the size of 10gal drums on something thats supposed to be dainty and beautiful (though if a hummingbird were the size of a human thats what itd be like…)“But but they use their magic to fly!!!” Then why do they have wings at all?
—–
~Nyxity
Navigators and aids, as said. Penguins and other birds with wings and yet are unable to fly. So why do they have wings? They use them as propellers in water.I am down with the angels using magic though. The only things that uses magic to fly are fairies, pixies and such. 😛
—–
*Tawadi
Yes, propellers. Not navigators.I theyre ethereal beings then why do they have wiiiiiiiiiings?!?!? >.< -illogic drives me mad-
—–
~Nyxity
Okay then, if using small wings, one could position them various ways to ease direction a bit, feel wind speed and pressure, tell where the wind is coming from on a more sensitive scale, keep the body more balanced… In turn, using those allows one to make judgements about their flight current. What would that be called if not navigation aids?
‘Not saying they are used for actual lift off or gliding, mind you. Heaven forbid.—–
*Tawadi
If an ethereal creature with no material substance exists, and uses magic to fly, wind wouldnt be of concern. Why would it care about direction, speed, etc of something that doesnt affect it?—–
~Nyxity
One, I’m not talking about beings that uses magic to fly. Two, just because it isn’t of material substance on our standard doesn’t mean it lacks substance. Thus, such things can affect it. Simple concept: angel/demon/ghost/spirit/whatever semi equals oxygen. Oxygen semi equals Helium. Though you cannot feel or see them on your own, they are there. They have no real material feel to them, but they do have substance. In tern they can be affected by certain things like weather. Wind, stillness, etc. In turn, air is moved when it is windy. It has no real choice in where it goes. Say an ethereal being is somewhat affected in a similar aspect. With wings, it can navigate where it ends up and make use of different winds directions, weather and so forth.
You seem to think I speak of one, things that fly using wings for the lift off and gliding aspect as well as something that is composed of absolutely nothing – which in turn would just be nothing in itself.—–
*Tawadi
Ive never heard of angels being blown away by sudden breezes (wouldnt that make chapels interesting?), but I get the argument. If the magic is strong enough to create lift, wouldnt it also be strong enough to provide stability without having useless feathery appendages waving about?—–
~Nyxity
Why do you keep bringing up magic? Screw magic. That is the lazy person’s excuse – an easy way out.—–
*Tawadi
Because Im half asleep and forgot what we were arguing about?—–
~Nyxity
*Snerks* Silly. Also we are debating about – I don’t think we are being hostile. Get some rest then you silly human.—–
*Tawadi
-mumbles incoherently and drags self off to bed- Good night. XP
It was all started over a tutorial she wrote about drawing. It had been a long time since I really held a debate with a person. Exhausting, but rather enjoyable. I do have my various “reasons” for certain things that make no sense physically in our world/reality, though. I don’t necessarily think them out, but I do know what components make things work in my drawings – at least the fantasy ones.
I never mentioned it in the debate, but drawings of a certain character of mine has those “duct-tape wings” are made for flying. Despite they look like angel wings they are also made to act like a shield. This character is a goddess, so certain aspects that deny the physical laws of humans take place. Her wings are indeed like birds in the back that they are light, but they are also like metal in terms of bone structure. Titanium to be close. While they are used for flight, they are also used like shields during battle. Thus, despite they are so strong, they are also incredibly light.
The same works with a similar character who instead has wings that are more bat-like. They are translucent, but it more like a bullet proof glass sort of concept only it is quite bendable. Again they are very light and strong, and though the bone that is used happens to be quite thinly muscled, the muscles are sinewy and serve their purpose to mechanize the wings. The real muscle that allows the wings not to break off is in the back and shoulder muscles instead, thus causing the wings to flap like how one flaps a fan.
While I doubt those who do draw “duct-tape wings” actually put that much thought into their drawings/characters, I do believe mine at least serve their purpose. The main problem is that these things seem hardly necessary to write down when all I am doing is showing a picture. Well, whatever.
Appointments…
Haircut Day went without a hitch. I did need to buy a new watch, got some face wash from Clinique and some body care supplies, though. I never spent so much on myself in one day before. It made me feel guilty. But, since I am reaching a quarter of a century by the end of the year I figure I need to start caring about my body a bit more. Thus, face cleanser with clarifying lotion and moisturizer it is.
I also stopped by Bath and Body Works just to check it out for myself once. I’ve been there before to buy things for my sister and soon to be sister-in-law but never really cared to go in for myself. So I picked out a fragrance that interested me, got some feedback from Mom to know if it suited and then bought various lotions. I admit, they moisturize my skin amazingly.
As for the need part, the wrist watch has become a necessity since I got my first one back in middle school. This is the third watch I’ve ever owned and perhaps the most expensive. My previous watch had needed batteries so Dad and I stopped at Wal-Mart to have the batteries replaced. No one was at the jewelry counter though.
After waiting for a pretty long while we gave up and decided to look for batteries that went with my watch. Wally-World had none, so we stopped by CVS. They had none either. Finally we tried Walgreens and they did have the battery needed. So, getting home Dad tries to replace the battery. It was all good and fine until he tried to get the back on again. In the end he broke the Quartz crystal on the face.
I borrowed a watch my mom never wore, but it needed batteries, too. So we headed back to Wally-World to see if anyone was at the counter this time. There was, but she couldn’t replace the battery because it wasn’t a Wal-Mart brand. Bah. So with her supervision Dad replaced it without breaking it. Sadly a day later the watch went ka-put.
So, since we were going on our haircut expedition we went watch hunting. We tried every store but couldn’t really find anything in my style except this one vendor. The watch was reminiscent to my first one, only it was a different brand. Costly, but I got it anyway. Based on my Dad’s knowledge of the brand and the fact that it is water resistant, hopefully it will last me a long time like my first watch had.
The next big day was two days later on a Sunday. Though my eldest brother’s birthday was in the middle of the week, we celebrated it during the weekend. It wasn’t much, really, but our family has always been pretty casual about these things. He and his fiancée arrived around one I believe.
There was chatting, talk about the wedding and so forth. His presents were some nice shirts since the ones he usually wears are kind of ratty. I couldn’t stay up for the whole visit though. I was struck with the chills and had been tired all morning. So once the talking went into areas of little interest to me, I headed off to my room and slept.
I woke up again around four and began cleaning up the kitchen. For lunch everyone had sandwiches, cheese and crackers. I had pretty much skipped lunch. Eventually my brother and his fiancée had to leave. Farewells were said and things settled back to regular routine. I did some laundry, cooked myself from pasta and don’t remember much about the rest of the night.
Labor Day Mom and I took an extra yoga class that week since she had off. It was okay. Not the best class we ever had, but it was okay. It was also the biggest class we ever attended too. As for the rest of the week, it was pretty routine.
This week, again pretty much normal. I’ve been pretty tired recently though and during the evenings I have been coloring and drawing a bit. I finished coloring a picture I started a while ago. Again, it is my wrist that tends to inhibit me from finishing a picture any time soon anymore. I believe it takes me about a quarter of a year or longer to really finish a picture. After that I began coloring an old piece I did on the first day on my freshman year in high school. It took to nights to get most of it done, but I stopped because my wrist finally had it.
After that, my artistic muse still wouldn’t die, though. So, I drew something yesterday night. It is inked and in the beginning stages of being colored, but the marker I was using died on me. This is likely a good thing, else I likely would have really hurt my wrist again. I ordered a replacement marker with a few others last night though. Still, even if I get them soon I will leave the picture on hiatus until my wrist feels okay again.
Last night I couldn’t sleep well and ended up finally falling asleep around six. I had to wake again at ten because my dad came home so I could get my flu shot. We waited there for a while, finally I got my shot and then we stopped by a small grocery store to pick up a couple of things. He dropped me off at home again and I decided to start my chores. I managed to get almost everything I usually needed to get done on Wednesdays finished minus the vacuuming. Simply put, I was too tired and went to sleep around two in the afternoon I believe. I didn’t wake again until seven.
I felt a bit tired physically around ten, so I decided to try to fall asleep again. Yeah right. After three hours I finally decided to get up and started writing this. My body still feels tired and slightly achy though. Well boo hoo for me.
Well, for the rest of the month there is still that podiatrist appointment and the dentist appointment was moved to October. Other than that… I guess everything is on its usual track.
The Busy Season Continues…
Well, my sister arrived Saturday morning around seven. Earlier in the week it was assumed that my brother and father were going to go to where she lived to help her get ready for her trip this coming week. My sister being who she is, changed this at the last minute. We were expecting her to come around noon as well.. Well, she crashed in the guest room. I guess my washing the bed coverings, cases and so forth was of use.
I woke up two hours after that. I ate breakfast, did some chores and took a shower. The day was pretty normal for a Saturday minus the lack of going out for a walk. Mom’s back had been bothering her a great deal so it was decided that we would skip walking this weekend. It seemed fine enough a plan since my sister would be here.
Dad and I went grocery shopping around ten and got back around eleven. After putting up the groceries I ate lunch and admittedly I cannot recall what went on after that. I possibly took a nap. Well, I know I was up again around four. My sister was up an about, I’m pretty sure my brother stopped in soon after as well and I got to doing some chores.
Making a quick dinner of ramen noodles I mainly kept to myself and stayed in my room the rest of the evening. Around nine my sister decided to go to the grocery store to grab something – likely food related items. She asked if I needed anything and if I would like o go. I declined. It was nine at night and I was preoccupied.
My decision was sound. My sister called the house a while later. She had gone to the store, gathered her things and it wound up she forgot her wallet. Dad had to fetch it, drive over there and save her. Yep, I am glad I didn’t go.
The rest of the night was pretty normal. Well, I stayed up quite late, but I could get away with it since I wasn’t going out walking in the morning. Also, I slept a good deal during the day so it was inevitable. I’d leave my room at times to do chores and I’d see my sister either dosing or watching something on her computer. I eventually went to sleep around four that morning.
I woke again around one P.M. Sunday. To my surprise my sister was still here. She was still asleep even. Well, I just did my usual… ate, did some chores and pretty soon my sister woke as well. She took a shower, Mom made herself lunch and pretty much breakfast for my sister. I sampled it, but I knew it wasn’t my thing anyway. It was a good thing I had eaten an hour before.
Anyway, my sister’s time had come. Her car had been checked out, my dad bout her new tires… It was time for her to leave. She left around two to three thirty. All she had left to do was get her things ready for tomorrow and say goodbye to her friends. She of course does this by partying and staying out until four in the morning. Dad was not pleased.
Monday morning around eleven my sister finally left for her long road trip to Virginia. She should have left at eight for good timing, but she’s my sister. She does things her way. This rather angered my dad and he tends to take this stuff out on Mom. Mom of course confided in me. We have a system. Fortunately after driving all day and into the night she made it was starting point A to point B safely. Dad even called her up to make amends later that night. Now she had two more days of driving after that.
Mom also went to see the chiropractor again. They took x-rays and did things to help alleviate her problems. She came back admittedly feeling a difference and got some answers. Now it is the slow progress of helping her get over one hurdle in order to reach the smaller ones.
Tuesday, I chipped a decent amount of my left front tooth off around noon time. I had finished eating and was flossing my teeth. I’ve had a small chip on the edge of it for a while, but it never really gave me problems other than snagging floss at times. Well, it really snagged some this time. Fibers were lodged so I used some more floss to get those free. Well, it certainly got them free… took off a nice chunk too. To my fortune it hasn’t caused sensitivity or anything. I just know if it stays like this for too long I’ll likely irritated my tooth or the gum line near it because my tongue is just drawn to it like mad.
Well, something will be done about it soon. My mom made an appointment for me with the dentist. It will be tomorrow afternoon at one thirty. Along with that my Dad’s birthday is to be celebrated. We got him the cards and his gift a while back as mentioned. It seems Mom completely forgot, too. I checked the calendar and it was confirmed. So I got out the stuff and handed her the cards. Her reaction said all. Well, the cards are signed and enveloped. With his sunglasses, they are safely resting on his desk to be discovered tomorrow morning. Other than those two things, I’m pretty sure tomorrow will be the usual.
Also, out of the blue, I must mention my sister again. Tuesday she made it to point C and today she made it to final point D mid afternoon. Dad should sleep better tonight and hopefully my sister will get some much deserved sleep as well.
So…
As for Friday and the weekend everything should be the usual… well, minus the Chakra class Mom and I will be going to on Sunday. Then on next Friday we’ll go on our haircut expedition. Oh, joy.
I still have no idea when my brother is going to come down for his birthday though… Mom said she emailed him about that a couple of times now but he hasn’t answered back. If she got any reply recently it slipped her mind to tell me.
Anything else? Well, my mom called the podiatrist to talk about getting her orthodic leveled with a cork padding again. That is one factor to her back problems. Well, the doctor wanted us to come in for a check up, so I’m reeled into that now too. That will occur later in September on the twenty-seventh.
Then on the thirtieth mom and I will have our teeth cleaned at the dentist.
That is all for this month and the coming month from what I know so far.
Different Sort of Weekend…
My sister is coming over tomorrow. The indecisive bugger she is, this visit has been flip-flopped around a couple of times. First she’s coming, then she isn’t, now she’s coming again. Of course the final decision is last minute.
This visit is all to get her ready for her long trip to Virginia. To see us and give goodbyes seems to be an added bonus, since before her final decision my dad and brother were going to visit her. From what I know, all of this is about getting her car ready… inspect it, get it new tires and so forth.
My dad will likely buy the tires. He’ll also likely buy all the gas when they are on the road together – yes, Dad is going with her. Well, hopefully buying my own clothes and such for the wedding will ease that a bit… doubtful. My expenses wouldn’t leave a dent I’m sure.
Mom woke me up this morning to tell me all of this. I’ll need to tidy the guest/sewing/cat room up more than usual just in case my sister stays the night. She’s allergic to animals so hello washing bed covers. I’ll try to get some dusting in as well.
I’m not quite sure when we’ll be doing groceries though… Maybe we’ll go this evening opposed to tomorrow. Who knows?
I guess it is also a good thing that my mom is taking a break from walking this weekend since when my sister comes along “so much goes on†and she can be energy draining for us introverts. I think she is actually the only extrovert in this immediate family…
Mom is taking the break from walking because her hip has been acting up big time lately. She even went to see and doctor about it yesterday. They did electrotherapy or something like that. I’m not too sure, but it had something to do with that. She said she felt better after the procedure though and she’ll be seeing the doctor again on Mondays. It isn’t certain if this will be a long term thing or if the Monday appointments will dwindle in time, but good luck to her.
Anything else? Nothing comes to mind. Okay!
I just felt like getting this out. Whoo.
The Busy Season…
Somewhere in July we got a ten minute rain shower in the middle of the night I of course had to get up to look. Yes, we‘ve been in drought for maybe ten months now if I heard correctly… maybe longer? Anyway… we don‘t get rain. It was mainly little, pathetic sprinkles… pin-head sized. It became an actually shower eventually and as said… it was like that for ten minutes and then let up again. Likely didn’t even make a .01% dent, but we were happy just to see it.
I saw Mrs. Wynne on the twenty-ninth of July. It was going to be rescheduled but someone canceled so we were able to be her last session of the day. Hearing about my hill walking expeditions with my mom and the recent once-a-week yoga classes must have pleased her because she didn’t get onto me about getting out and socializing more. She also heard about my brother’s wedding and is interested to hear about how I will end up handling it come our next session, which will occur a month or two later. Peh.
Well, the day after – a Saturday - it rained while Mom and I were on our walk. Yay for Don. It wasn’t an incredibly long rain, but it was rain. The morning was mainly wet, but no rain or sprinkling… just like a heavy fog. On occasion there would be droplets and admittedly Mom and I sweated like mad due to the moisture in the air… but nothing.
It was when we were three-fifths into our hill walking did a light sprinkle begin. By the four-fifth a light rain came. Halfway down that 1one-firth left to go rain actually fell. I was whooping, waving my hands around and exclaiming things like, “Awesome!†Yes… rain is a dear rarity here.
It continued to shower as we made it home and after I rinsed off inside. Sadly, it didn’t really get to settle in because the sky didn’t stay overcast after it stopped. Pretty soon the clouds dispersed and the sun was out. Boo.
In other things…Yoga is going well. I haven’t had any more muscle problems lately and that one knot that wouldn’t go away… I think it might actually be scar tissue from an injury I had back when I was… maybe in sixth grade? I also found a pose I rather like. While I always did well with the “tree†pose, we learned what is apparently a very hard pose called the “pigeon†pose. It did wonders on my legs. I didn’t even know it was an extreme pose until I was told. Heh. I guess I am naturally flexible.
Recent news… Well, my sister has been trying out applications recently because her job “can’t afford†her – she does a lot of overtime. Well, after a while of talking and dealing with a three-hour interview – Three hours! She got a job in Virginia. She actually got the results just yesterday – Friday. Back on Wednesday my dad and a friend of his helped her move out of her apartment. Thursday or yesterday she went on a four day vacation in Colorado. In any case, good luck to her. With how the economy is, she has gotten a really bad hand. Hopefully things will look up and she’ll get into a position that she deserves.
In other recent family news, my brother and his fiancée are worried about the wedding considering their financials – he has only so much on his income and his girlfriend doesn’t have a job because as everyone knows teaching is taking the economy harshly. My brother is trying to sell his junkard of a car. He hoped to sell it for a thousand, but at best he’s looking at five hundred. Yeah, they are throwing a “small†wedding and all, but they cannot even pay rent to my parents. I learned yesterday they haven’t paid for three months.
As said, I think most people should elope or simply go to the courthouse, sign the papers and then head off for memorable honeymoon. My brother is a traditionalist and wants it to be special, romantic and such. Nice thought, but really… you so do not have the money. Heck, I’m not sure my family even has the money for the rehearsal dinner, the clothes, the fees for staying three nights in a hotel, kenneling the dogs and so forth… Meh.
Whatever…
More stuff to do with money will be coming up as well. My Dad’s birthday will come up in this month, so my mom bought him the gift while I bought the cards – no I didn’t pick them out for the others… so, money went into that. Also, in all irony… he bought himself a birthday gift. It was a new computer since the one he’s been using is around seven years old.
He ordered it a while ago and he had me stay up during the day to listen for the delivery man since the item needed a signature – I wake up late and stay up late so doing opposite is troublesome. Well, it didn’t come that day. In fact, it hadn’t even shipped from what he found. Well, I had two keep on alert two others days after that. We got his monitor one day. I had stayed up all morning and afternoon. Guess what? It didn’t need my signature. The second time? It didn’t need my signature either. So yeah… I was pretty sleep deprived for a while. Well, he’s had it for a couple of days now and has been working on transferring all his files and whatnot.
Anyway at the end of the month my mom is having us take an extra class regarding Chakra, which has some yoga in it. Those classes require money.
After that we go for haircuts in the beginning of September, so more money needs to be put aside for that. My eldest brother – the one getting married – has a birthday after that. Then by the end of the month there is the dental appointments. I’m thinking it is somewhere in this month my cat also has his yearly physical and shots… so I’ll need to keep my eye on money for that too.
If anything happens in October, I do not know, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we start shopping for things to wear for the wedding around that time.
November… wedding. Oh joy. We’ll need money for various things listed earlier to consider. I’ll definitely need my pills.
Then guess what! Thanksgiving, my birthday with a possible doctor‘s appointment on that day, my other brother’s birthday and Christmas!
Sigh.
Well… I guess I’ll not what happened today. It is lighter. I got up around nine thirty. It surprised me since we usually lave at nine thirty by latest. So I got up, got a cereal bowl and ate quickly as my mom changed from pajamas to workout clothes. I finished eating, pulled on my shoes and hat and then entered the kitchen. I rinsed out the dishes and saw my mom was finally getting to her chair to get on her socks and shoes, so I handled the dishwasher some.
We headed out eventually. My mom’s youngest dog was troublesome today so I walked ahead. We got home, wiped away the sweat and replenished our water supplies. Then we headed out again with my mom’s older dog for the hill walking.
Well, when we make it through the first fifth of the walk we stop to give my mom’s dog some water. I noted a dog had been in “Killian’s Spot†and left the proof in a small pile. Thing is, a dung beetle had found said pile too. I joked it just goes to show “One person‘s shit is another person‘s treasureâ€. We laughed and cheered the bugger on since its load was like King Sisyphus and his boulder of punishment.
Continuing our walk we stopped again at another point where my mother and I need a water break. There we encountered three dung beetles. Now this was truly King Sisyphus and his boulder. All three of them had the same size amount of dung and were trying to push their loot up a drain curb – in other words straight up a tall wall for them. It was pitiful.
Up, fall, up, fall…
I muttered to my mom if I had a sturdy leaf or such, I’d help them out. With this weather, the leaves are puny, though. She apparently felt the pity for them as well because she scrounged around her pack and found a paper towel she had used on a previous walk to wipe off sweat. Using that she helped all three get over the curb.
Just as she finished though, the owner of the property we were in front of came out. She wasn’t angry, just curious. It is known that people around here will pick things from other people’s yards. Those things being fallen seeds, pods or such. My mom did this a couple of times… one, picking up a stray cactus leaf and using it to plant in our yard and a pod from some tree elsewhere… Well, this lady doubted she had anything a person could use so she investigated. We told her in amusement what was going on. She laughed too. As we headed on our way Mom and I joked over it. Very silly, indeed.
Well, we continued on, finished our walk and got back home. I took a shower, cleaned out my cat’s drinking bowl and then headed out with my dad to grocery shop. We got that handled, grabbed lunch and then got home. Putting up the groceries we then took out the lunches we bought and headed to our places where we usually eat.
Once done, I cleaned the dishes and dealt with the laundry a bit. I put a few things to order in my room and then surfed the internet. Now I am here relaying all this useless to silly to semi-important stuff down. Whoo.
Three Times The…
Definitely not the charm. Fortunately I always was more of a seven or thirteen kind of person. The first third time dealt with a ruler. My dad borrowed my shatter-proof plastic ruler maybe a month or two ago without returning it. Well, since I hadn’t been drawing anything that required it, I didn’t hound him about returning it. Apparently I should have. The dog – I am assuming my mom’s chocolate lab – got a hold of it and though it was shatter-proof, it was not chew proof. It was still in one piece upon my discovering of it. Sadly it was chewed up well enough to make the edges no longer straight as well as make sure the ruler couldn’t stay flat on a surface.
Well, last week I went to the grocery store with my dad on Saturday as usual. I couldn’t find any shatter-proof rulers, but I did find rulers and got one that was blue – favorite color. It made it to the cart and made it out of the cart… sadly it made its way out of the cart before we got to the checkout so it was never bought or brought home. Well, later on that day I had to go with my mom on errand running. I found some shatter-proof rulers at Walgreen’s. There were mainly orange, yellow and pink ones – colors I have little care for. Therefore, I looked to see if they had any blue or at least green. Their were some… in the very back of the pole they were filed on. So, I patiently took the rulers out to get to the blue one and then put all the rulers back. I placed the ruler in the cart… it too never made it to the checkout, much less home.
Well, the next day my mom had to go back to Walgreen’s due to an unfulfilled prescription. Dad got me two rulers. They were orange and yellow – my least favorite colors. I would have even settled for the pink. Seeing them, my mom even knew I’d dislike the colors. She didn’t say anything because my dad is easily insulted and would make a fuss. On the bright side… I got two rulers opposed to one and as long as they serve their purpose… the colors shouldn’t matter. Still… two times blue and in the end orange and yellow. Meh.
The other situation is more serious. As said, I’ve been going to yoga classes as my mom’s “moral support” once a week. Well, this week I attended my third class. It was kind of fun for once when it came to the communication level. I’m apparently very flexible. Sadly, my left ankle and wrist are very sensitive, weak areas. Well, Wednesday, they certainly acted up. That night I decided to wear one of my light braces on my arm and the foot brace on my leg. Thursday they began to act up again a great deal by night time… so I tried out my second level arm brace and kept the foot brace on. Friday – today – my neck and upper back had a kink in it, my wrist was still less than wonderful and so was my ankle. I moved to the heavy duty wrist brace, kept on the foot brace and stayed in bed most of the day after doing the chores in order to relax my muscles as much as possible.
They still bothered me when we went out to eat so when we got home I just rested on my bed again for about two hours. Occasionally I massaged my arm muscles, my ankle and tried to relax my shoulders. Eventually, when I felt I got my body as relaxed as I could by doing that, I joined my mom to watch television. There I used the heating pad – something I had used the past three nights.
Mom and I found the scar tissue of the ligament I sprained back in 2007, so I pulverized (massaged) the area as much as I could. Mom also suggested doing a heat and cooling combination on it… so for a while I had an ice pack and then would turn to heat and back again. I got impatient with it after an hour and half and resorted to heating and my own massaging again.
Mom also helped me with my back. She found a knot there that was causing the problem for my neck and shoulder. She massaged it down and I am feeling better there now. Joy. My ankle could still be better. It is sore and I worry about the hill climbing tomorrow. Mom says i should use a wrap instead of the brace. I figure I’ll also lean my weight a bit more to the inner part of my foot tomorrow as well. Hopefully that will help avoid strain.
So yes… three things, three times the curse. Meh.
Oh, yeah… next Friday I will see Mrs. Wynn. That is all.
Getting out More…
Oi. Let’s see… Well, After my last entry Tuesday came along and lo and behold the yoga class was that night. Mom of course sprung it on me at the last minute. There’s nothing new. Meh. Well, we got ready, went, signed papers and did the class. It was okay.
I found I’m not truly as flexible as I thought I was since my back is supposed to always be straight, but my Mom considered me very flexible. The teacher was nice and I picked up most of the moves well enough. She was impressed by my balance though. What can be said? The only yoga pose I ever really knew was The Tree and I really rather enjoyed it. It seems that despite I hadn’t done it for a while, it still hasn’t gone away.
I think my mom really came to understand what I mean about my inability to picture things in my mind, too. Around the end there is a long moment of meditation and keeping still. Mom told me during that time she envisioned the Rainbow Bridge and getting to see all her beloved pets from years past. I told her I couldn’t do that. All I could see was the backs of my eyelids, or pretty much just black.
Oddly, though, I can dream quite vividly. Colors can be amazing, views can be clear, there can be touch, smell and taste… but when I wake up, I can never imagine it again. I can’t see it in my head no matter how hard I try. I cannot recall the scents, the feelings or anything on a sensory level. I can only remember it from a mental level… A level I cannot even quite explain to myself. Well, anyway… The class ended well enough.
The rest of the week was pretty normal. Dusting was bumped up sooner due to not doing it Monday, but other than that… pretty normal. Then Dad came home talking about a play and free tickets. Oi. Well even without my direct consent, I was apparently going anyway from what I found out last night. So much for letting me decide. Peh.
Let’s see… Saturday was pretty much the norm. I woke around eight thirty to nine, ate breakfast and stretched like mad since I was waiting on Mom for such a long time. We finally got out at nine thirty or so. We went to the park and walked her youngest dog, came back and then went on our hill walking with her older dog. During the walk I got into my religious discussions with her. It was a good talk, I believe.
After that I took a shower, did some chores and I think I took a brief nap since I didn’t sleep soundly the night before. Soon enough the time for grocery shopping came along. Dad and I got what was needed, picked up some lunch from Subway, went home, unpacked the groceries and I ate.
While eating, my Dad decided to put together a cat fountain for me. I would have rather done it myself since he doesn’t read all the directions like he is supposed to, but once he gets going, you cannot stop him. My cat tends to drink from the faucet. He’ll only drink from a simple bowl of water when desperate and it isn’t that much. Having seen cat fountain-style bowls before, I decided to look into them. Looking to the future when my eldest brother’s wedding occurs, I knew he’d be less healthy than the time we leave him come the time we return. I want him to live to twenty, damn it, so he needs to drink all the water necessary to keep his kidneys going.
Well, it was finally put together and it is working fine. With that settled, I decided to take a more official nap since evening time I’d be dragged off to see the play. I woke up an hour and a half before we’d need to leave. I ate a small dinner and then waited on my parents. My dad looked at me and asked, “You‘re wearing that?†Meh. I was dressed how I am always dressed… a tank top and a pair of jean shorts. It was going to be an outside theater during the middle of summer! I asked him, “Yes. Do you have a problem with it?†He denied, but then said the pants were fine but asked if I had a dressier shirt. Dad, you liar. Hello, eye roll.
I got up and told him I’d look. My brother was staying over for a bit and I stopped to gripe about it to him. One, Dad asks if I’d go but in truth didn’t give a damn about my opinion anyway. So now I’m going without a fuss mainly for them. Two, I found out it was an outside theater from my mom, which made the whole thing even less appealing to me, but I made no fuss and was still going without a fuss. Three, now my clothes aren’t good enough? Damn it! Isn’t it enough I’m even going out? Hell, in the past week I’ve stepped out more than ever… Oi.
Well, we finally got going at seven fifteen. Arriving around seven thirty, we got signed it, got the tickets, saw some kids art gallery thing, then went to a kitchen area where they were giving out popcorn, cake slices and root beer floats. Mom and I settled on water and popcorn. Eventually the guy who put the thing together and such made a speech and then we all headed out to the stage where many other people were already at.
Our seats were really good, We were around the very center. We settled down, I assisted Dad with his camera since part of the reason he was there was to take photos for his job. The play then went on its way.
It was okay. The show was The Buddy Holly Story. Some of the songs I vaguely recognized and the cast was very good. Was I enthralled? No. Was I bored? Not really. Did I hate it? Nah. Did I like it? Pretty much. Admittedly I had slightly hoped that by the time the First Act was over the whole thing was over.
No such luck. At that time it was nine thirty. We had another hour. Oi.
The music was fine, the lead’s ability to sing and perform was great and some of the side characters were nice to watch. Admittedly I found myself glancing to the sky often though. Near black, the moon was going into its third quarter and the stars could be made out. It was beautiful.
Anyway, the play finally ended at ten thirty or so. There was a brief encore and soon we headed out. On our way home we talked a bit about the show… Mainly my mom and Dad, mind you. Then we got home around eleven. After seeing my parents off to bed, I just decided to go onto bed too. I’d be out walking again the next morning after all.
Well screw that. Last night was a poor night for sleeping. I think I got one or two hours at best. The rest was tossing, turning, laying – or is it lying? – dealing with needy cats and so forth. I got up at nine, ate breakfast and waited on Mom to get ready. We left at nine forty-five. Oi.
To our fortune, it seemed cooler today. Yeah, the park was hot as usual, but the hill climbing was accompanied by the faint breeze and shade from trees here and there. Now we are back. I took a shower, dealt with the dishes and am now typing up this.
Meh. I don’t like how much more busy his year has been compared to last years. Oh, well.
July Fourth
Well, this shall be interesting. My mom signed us both up for yoga. Meh… I’ve never really done yoga before. I can do the tree pose well, but stopped after I hurt my ankle. The pressure screwed it up again. The class will be on Monday evenings.
Tonight of course is a no go since it is the Fourth of July. Next week will be the intended target. Oh, joy. Well, maybe it’ll be okay.
Pretty much, Mom and I haven’t been able to go walking much due to the heat. With it in the hundreds… nope, not even water is good enough to carry out the task. I’d likely keel over from dizziness. We’ll likely only do hill walking on weekends when we can go out early.
I guess I’ll start working on limbering myself up again. I’ve always been pretty flexible. I touch my feet easily when standing… sometimes even just rest my fingers against the floor for the hell of it. The same goes when on the floor, minus my hands touching it.
‘Pretty good at turning myself into a sandwich, too. What is that? Usually sitting and resting my upper body on it like a blanket. Sometimes I’ll have my legs crossed or the like. I find it feels nice for some reason.
Well, I got up around six thirty Friday morning. The night before held troubled sleep as usual. Trying to go to sleep before midnight usually is. So, yeah… little sleep.
Upon getting up I got a small bowl of cereal in me, brushed my teeth and got my things ready. Then I waited until the time to leave came around. That was 7:30.
I dozed some in the car for the sake of it and we got to Austin around 9:45, I believe. As usual we stopped to eat a “late breakfast†at Denny’s. We got our food about thirty minutes after ordering. Well, when full we headed off again. Reaching the mall at 10:30, Mom decided it was a good time to see if we could find me some “yoga clothesâ€.
I don’t like to wear any pants or shorts that aren’t denim or at least of that thickness… so “yoga†is loosely considered. I found a pair of Capri’s quickly enough, but Mom looked around as well leading our little expedition to be a shopping spree for her too. She got two shirts after looking around for the right fit. We finally got out of there to reach the hair salon at eleven on the dot, which is when my mom’s hair appointment started.
I left her there and looked for my dad who was at the food court. While we had been looking around for clothes, he looked about briefly for shoes. So, I soon joined him in the pursuit. We went to Sears, Macy’s and JCPenny… he found nothing he liked.
By then I had ten minutes until my hair appointment, so I went to wait and my dad went on his own way. My stylist was already there, so the wait wasn’t long. I got my hair washed, talked with my stylist about things going on and had about an inch of hair taken off all around. When it was done I paid, left a tip and went in search of my dad. I found him at the food court again, this time reading from his iPod.
We decided to see if there was an art supply store around. I had been needing some markers for the longest time, but no store where we live carries the brand. We found a Micheal’s, but they didn’t have any of the markers in gray. In fact, they only came in large colored packs. I found some white gel pens though and some artist pens I thought would be nice to try out since the pens I use are really made for writing.
After that we stopped by Barnes and Noble. Neither of us found anything, but it was a good way to kill time. We left soon enough to check on Mom since a decent amount of time had passed. She was just beginning to get her freshly cut hair dried and styled, so we had to wait ten more minutes. Dad offered to get me a drink and so we did that. Getting a Strawberry-Apple Chiller, my dad and I waited on her. He resumed his reading, I just sat there and drank.
When she was finally done, we stopped by a candle store my mom loves. She got some candles for summer and I saw a little gift-bag thing that had two small Sweet Pea candles and hand sanitizer. My sister likes the scent, so I decided to grab it for her.
With one more stop for my mom, who needed hair clips, we headed off. Though it was slightly less than four hours after was last ate, Mom wanted to eat again. By what I know of her, she needs to eat every four hours else her blood sugar drops and she gets dizzy and starts shaking. So, we ate at a soup and salad place.
Done with all that was planned, we headed home. Hearing we only found a Micheal’s, however, Mom insisted we look for a Hobby Lobby. So, due to that we got lost in town for a while… Not so much lost as, “not quite certainâ€. Well after a long while we finally found it and I was able to get the markers I was in search of.
Since we were off our usual course we decided to roam about the city some after that. Since the State Capitol is a tourist area, we looked at some buildings, went through the area my sister once lived at and spoke about possibilities. Those possibilities happened to be my dad wanting to take pictures of buildings and such there this summer and my mentioning of coming back for a “vacation†that consisted of walking around certain areas, checking out shops and so forth. Apparently my mom liked that idea. Huh.
Well, we finally got back to where we needed to be to get out of there so we officially left at 4:30. There was some traffic to begin with, but we got home just fine at six. Despite hat we didn’t go home directly.
After entering town, we headed for Chili’s. Dad and I weren’t hungry, but went for my brother’s sake. We usually eat out on Friday nights and Dad wanted to see my brother… so… yeah. There was waiting, drinking and talking… from what I gathered things are rather the same when it comes to my brother’s job. The food finally came then, we ate and eventually went our separate ways.
While Dad and I headed to the car we murmured we should have popped by then. He and I aren’t used to eating so much in a day. By then it was seven and we finally made it home.
If I had been lucky I could have gone to bed after that. No, my mom wanted to watch television… so we stayed up to watch television. After getting in a decent amount of shows we finally went to bed. I don’t remember the time…. Maybe it was eleven or a bit later? I likely fell asleep around twelve then.
To wake up at 6:30.
I got up, got my shoes on and my cap ready. Eating a quick, small bowl of cereal Mom and I headed out for walking. We were done by eight, so I took a shower and caught up on a few more hours of sleep before I had to go grocery shopping. While out my dad questioned about using my new art supplies. I was not amused. The rest of Saturday is a blur from there. I’m pretty sure I watch more television with Mom that night, though.
Sunday was about the same. I woke up, ate, went out walking, did chores and slept during the afternoon since I still hadn’t recovered from Friday. Another reason was because the A/C wasn’t working properly so it was 86 degrees in the house. When it is that warm to boarding on hot… yeah… I go into cat mode and lay down. When it began to cool again I did some more chores and decided to try out the markers I got.
For a couple of hours I went back through my art to pictures I never got to finish coloring due to the gray marker I had dying on me before I could finish. I stayed up until 2:30 I believe.
So… it is now the Fourth of July. I got up at eight, put on my shoes and cap, and ate a small bowl of cereal. By the time I was finished Mom was just getting to her cereal, so I meddled on the computer a bit. We set off once she was done and got the right leash and collar for her dog out. It was an hour later than the day before.
Despite it was later in the morning, walking was rather good for me today. I usually like going before the sun has gotten up into the sky much to avoid the coming heat, but I wasn’t terribly affected by it today. In fact, I was sort of on a roll and full of energy. Maybe I have caught up on my sleep well enough.
Getting back home, I cooled down for a few minutes and played fetch with my dad’s dog. I’m his designated “fitness buddy†as far as my mom is concerned. I do it because I can and my parents like that I’m keeping him active. They like that I do it because it helps him lose weight and stay trim.
With that accomplished I did intend to take a shower, but my dad beat me to that. So, instead I tended to the dishes some and kept to my room. When he was done I of course took to it.
He left after that to get some fruit and I washed my cap since it was quite sweaty. After hanging it up to dry I came back in here to begin typing this. In the middle of this entry he returned with lunch, so I’ve been eating and typing right here. It is now almost twelve.
That is all for now. Hallelujah!
